I have not experienced many thunderstorms in Hawaii, but this day a tropical depression was passing the islands bring rain and lightning. We were still swimming as swimming in the rain is a magical experience, but then a lightning strike happened in the water, at a distance that felt very close. The sizzle and light were amazing. We made a rapid beeline off the beach at that point, but it was an exciting day that I wanted to capture in this work.
